Peripatetic Clinician in Small Animal Surgery

Ibra began his journey in Spain, earning his degree in 2013 after studying at five different universities across Spain, Slovakia, and Chile. After his graduation worked for 2 year in first opinion practice in Spain.

Relocating to the UK in 2016, Dr. Hernando further honed his skills by completing a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery (CertSAS) from the esteemed European School of Veterinary Postgraduates (ESVPS). He has since served various hospitals throughout southern England, providing reliable locum support for over three years.

In 2019, Ibra took his expertise to Dick White Referrals in Cambridge, completing an internship certified by the University of Nottingham. His pursuit of knowledge and experience then led him to the Netherlands, where he worked as a Referral Surgeon.

Ibra continued to advance his differentiation by graduating in 2022 with an Advanced Certificate in Small Animal Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery from the International School of Veterinary Postgraduates (ISVPS).

That same year, he returned to the UK to bring his extensive experience to the role of a freelance referral surgeon in various hospitals.

In 2023 he founded Precise VetPro, with the goal to provide high quality referral services into the first opinion practices.

With over five years of experience in Referral Hospitals alongside Specialists, and another five years in first opinion, he understands the needs of the first opinion practices and the best way to expand their services.

He loves travelling and practising adventures sports in his free time.

Emili Alcoverro

European Specialist in Veterinary Neurology

Emili graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) in 2011. He completed a rotating internship at the UAB Teaching Hospital the following year, then gained valuable clinical experience as an out-of-hours veterinarian at Hospital Veterinari del Maresme in Barcelona from 2013 to 2015.

In 2016, Emili moved to the UK, where he worked as a first-opinion vet at Vets4Pets in Liverpool. Later that year, he began a Neurology Internship at the prestigious Animal Health Trust, followed by a three-year residency in Veterinary Neurology at the University of Liverpool’s Small
Animal Teaching Hospital.

Since 2020, Emili has been a referral clinician in Neurology at ChesterGates Veterinary Specialists. He became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Neurology in 2021, and in 2022, he was recognised as a Veterinary Neurology Specialist by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). In 2023, he received further accreditation from the Spanish Small Animal Veterinary Association (AVEPA).

Emili brings a wealth of expertise and a calm, compassionate approach to his patients and their families.

Francesco Zublena

European and RCVS Specialist in Small Animal Anaesthesia

Telemedicine, Clinical Advisor and Peripatetic Clinician in Small Animal Anaesthesia

He graduated from the University of Milan, and after honing his skills for three years in general practice in Italy, he moved to the UK. There, he embarked on a rotating internship at VRCC Referral (now known as Southfields Referrals).

His dedication to veterinary medicine led him to complete a specialty internship and residency in Small Animal Anaesthesia at Dick White Referrals. He continued to practice at the same establishment for an additional three years, with the final year as a European Specialist, a title he earned after passing his board examination in 2021.

He returned to the north of Italy for a year, where he collaborated with two referral practices. Currently, he is coming back to the UK, where he plans to further advance his career.

Tristan Merlin

European Specialist in Anaesthesia & Analgesia

Tristan qualified in France (ONIRIS, Nantes) in 2013 before moving over to the UK in 2015, where he completed a residency in Anaesthesia and Analgesia (Royal Veterinary College). Following this, he started the anaesthesia department at Eastcott Referrals (Swindon) and led the team there until 2021. He became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia that same year.
Tristan has lectured both nationally and internationally, and published several scientific and research articles.

Francisco de Membiela

Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialist

Fran’s veterinary journey began in sunny Spain, where he earned his degree at the University of Murcia and started his clinical training. He went on to work there for several years as both a Referral Clinician and Assistant Honorary Professor, combining hands-on care with teaching.

In 2015, Fran took his passion for emergency and critical care across the Atlantic, completing a specialised internship at North Carolina State University in the U.S. This international experience helped shape his path as he returned to Spain to work in two leading referral hospitals in Valencia: Auna Veterinary Specialties and AniCura Valencia Sur.

Since 2020, Fran has been part of the team at Pride Veterinary Referrals in Derby, where he recently completed a prestigious ACVIM residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine.

When he’s not in the clinic, Fran loves getting behind a drum kit, soaking up the Spanish sun, and exploring Europe—especially when he can catch his favourite rock and metal bands live on stage.

Juan Jose Camarasa

DipECVS MRCVS Specialist in Small Animal Surgery

Juan Jose Camarasa graduated from the University of Murcia in Spain in 2012. After graduation, he spent six months at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Szent István University in Budapest. Shortly thereafter, he obtained a Master’s degree in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery.

Following a few years of clinical practice and an internship in the Surgery Department of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at the University of Murcia, he
moved to the Middle East, where he spent over a year working in a small animal hospital in Doha, Qatar. In 2018, he relocated to the UK, where he completed a Surgical Internship and a European Residency in Small Animal Surgery at Pride Veterinary Referrals.

In 2024, Juan Jose obtained his Diploma as a European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery. He has a deep interest in all aspects of surgery, particularly oncologic and thoracic surgery, brachycephalic syndrome, minimally invasive procedures, and traumatic orthopaedic injuries.

Outside of his professional life, Juan Jose is a social person who enjoys spending time with friends and family. He is also an avid traveller, enthusiastic cook, and a fan
of live music events

Christos Nikolaou

Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Christos Nikolaou graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2005. He completed an Internship in Small Animal Surgery at the same university and Fitzpatrick Referrals, followed by a six-month Research Fellowship at Fitzpatrick Referrals. After returning to Greece, Christos led his own Orthopaedic Referral Service in Athens.

In 2015, Christos relocated to Petersfield, where he worked at Fitzpatrick Referrals as a manager while receiving advanced orthopaedic training. From 2018 to 2021, he founded and led an Orthopaedic service at The Vet Southampton, offering peripatetic surgical services across multiple branches.

Christos is now an Orthopaedic Surgeon at Precise VetPro, where he provides specialised surgical services to veterinary practices across Hampshire. His clinical
interests include stifle disease and traumatology, and he has published numerous scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.

Currently pursuing a BSc in STEM (Engineering and Statistics) with the Open University, Christos is keen to deepen his understanding of biomechanics, fracture fixation, and movement mechanics. He also shares his insights through his blog on
biomechanics.

Ivan Filipovic

Referral Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Ivan Filipovic graduated from the University of Zagreb in 2010 and began his career in mixed practice while earning a Masters in Pharmaceutics. After completing his Postgraduate Certification in Small Animal Surgery in 2018, he undertook an internship at Willows Referral Service in Solihull. Since then, Ivan has been providing referral surgical services to first-opinion practices across The Midlands, Greater London, and surrounding counties.
Ivan is a regular attendee of orthopaedic workshops and congresses, ensuring that he offers a wide range of surgical and consulting services. He is an active member of the veterinary orthopaedic community, constantly refining his skills to stay at the forefront of his field.
In his spare time, Ivan enjoys exploring new skills and hobbies such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, foreign languages, and backgammon.
